Why is this change being made?

Thrivent Charitable is outsourcing certain charitable remainder trust administration and investment support functions. By outsourcing this administration, we gain specialized expertise and scalable support to strengthen our stewardship of donor assets and enable our internal team to put greater focus on the donor experience and advisor support.

When is this change taking place?

Administration of charitable remainder trust assets will transfer to BNY Wealth November 2026.

Trust distributions scheduled for December 2026 and beyond will be processed and issued by BNY Wealth.

What can I expect during the transition period? Will there be any temporary disruptions?

Thrivent Charitable and BNY Wealth are working together to ensure a seamless transition. We do not anticipate any interruption in service during the transition, and distributions are expected to continue according to the terms of your agreement.

Will my fees change?

Donor fees are expected to remain similar to current levels following the transition. We do not anticipate significant changes to the fees you pay today.

Can I still use the Fund Dashboard for charitable remainder trust information?

Yes. You can still use the Fund Dashboard for information, but the information may be found in different locations. Directions will be provided to help you navigate to the correct places.

Where will my check come from?

Beginning December 2026, charitable remainder trust payments will be processed through BNY Wealth on behalf of Thrivent Charitable. Payment checks may reflect BNY Wealth as the processing institution; however, your trust relationship remains with Thrivent Charitable.

Electronic payment options will continue to be available for donors and beneficiaries who prefer direct deposit.

Will my distributions continue without interruption? Will the timing of distributions change?

Thrivent Charitable and BNY Wealth are working together to ensure a seamless transition. Distributions are expected to continue according to the terms of your agreement. BNY Wealth has indicated payments will be scheduled on the same dates donors and beneficiaries currently receive their payments.

Do I need to re-establish my payment distribution?

For most donors and beneficiaries, existing payment instructions will transfer as part of the transition. If additional information or documentation is required, Thrivent Charitable will contact you directly.

How will my statement change?

For charitable trusts, BNY Wealth will mail annual statements instead of Thrivent Charitable. While the format and language may look different, the information provided will remain similar.

How will my tax forms change?

Tax forms will be mailed from BNY Wealth instead of Thrivent Charitable.

When will tax forms be available? Will they be available online?

Charitable remainder trust K-1s will be mailed by Feb. 28 each year. BNY Wealth does not issue early K-1s.

Beneficiaries can expect to receive forms in the mail the first week of March. These forms will not be available online.

Can I still gift real estate and complex assets? Who handles this process?

Yes. You may still make gifts of real estate and other complex assets to charitable remainder unitrusts (CRUTs) when appropriate and approved after due diligence by Thrivent Charitable. The Thrivent Charitable team will handle receipt and sale of your gift and then transfer the proceeds to BNY Wealth for administration of your CRUT going forward.

Will my investment strategy change?

For charitable remainder trusts, the investment strategy will change. Trust assets will move to one of BNY Wealth’s three portfolios: Balanced (50/50), Moderate Growth (70/30) or Aggressive Growth (90/10). The assigned portfolio is based on factors such as beneficiary life expectancy and payout rate to better align the investment strategy with each trust’s specific circumstances. Typically, younger beneficiaries are invested in a growth-oriented strategy, while older beneficiaries are invested in a more conservative strategy.

How are investment performance and risk monitored?

Thrivent Charitable remains trustee and primary relationship manager and maintains fiduciary responsibility for overseeing assets. As part of our responsibility, Thrivent Charitable regularly reviews investment performance, risk, and portfolio strategy.

BNY Wealth serves as the investment manager and provides ongoing investment oversight, including asset allocation monitoring, rebalancing, benchmark comparisons, and performance reporting. BNY Wealth reviews model portfolios on a quarterly basis to confirm allocations remain within approved ranges and to evaluate performance relative to benchmarks.

Thrivent Charitable and BNY Wealth will participate in periodic Investment Committee reviews to discuss portfolio performance, risk, rebalancing activity, and any recommended changes. This approach ensures investment management remains aligned with the trust’s objectives.

Can investment allocations be customized or changed after setup?

Charitable remainder trust allocations may be reviewed after setup if circumstances change, such as a material change in payout needs, beneficiary information, time horizon, or overall risk profile. In those cases, BNY Wealth may recommend a different model portfolio for a specific trust.

Does the donor or financial advisor get to choose their investments?

No. Donors and financial advisors do not directly select investments, and this is not changing as part of the transition.

What information is being shared and how are you securing my data during this process?

Thrivent Charitable will share only the information necessary to establish and service your account, meet regulatory requirements, and ensure uninterrupted support. This may include account records, beneficiary information, trust agreements, tax documentation, and other records needed for administration, reporting, and payment processing.

Protecting your information is a top priority. Information is transferred using secure, controlled processes and technology platforms designed to safeguard sensitive data. Access is limited to authorized personnel who require the information to perform their responsibilities. Thrivent Charitable and BNY Wealth follow established privacy, security, and compliance standards to help protect your information throughout the transition and beyond.
