What is a donor-advised fund (DAF)?
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a simple and tax-smart charitable giving vehicle providing you the giving flexibility you need to support the organizations and causes closest to your heart.
A DAF allows you to choose when you want to give to the fund and grant from the fund, as well as the amount you want to grant to the charities you choose. Over time, your fund may grow through sound investment management and stewardship from Thrivent Charitable.

How do I create a DAF with Thrivent Charitable?
To establish a DAF with Thrivent Charitable, create an Advise-As-You-Go or Designated Fund on our website. Once your fund is established, you can start making gifts and recommending grants. Learn more about creating a fund here .

How do I make a gift to my DAF and what assets can I contribute?
There are multiple ways to contribute to your charitable fund.
The following assets can be gifted in a DAF:

Give online .- Give via physical check. Please make checks payable to Thrivent Charitable and write the name of your charitable fund or account number on the memo line. Send checks to Thrivent Charitable PO Box 8072 Appleton, WI 54912-8072
- Give via wire transfer and EFT. If you plan to give from a bank account via wire transfer,
provide this information to your bank . Please contact Thrivent Charitable in advance at thriventcharitable@thrivent.com or 800-365-4172 to ensure your gift is received and credited to your chosen fund as quickly as possible. - Give securities.
Use these instructions to gift publicly traded stock or mutual funds .
The following assets can be gifted in a DAF:
- Cash (via check, wire transfer, ACH bank transfer, or credit card)
- Stocks/bonds and mutual funds
- Qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) from an IRA
- Real estate ($200,000 minimum)
- Closely held stock ($200,000 minimum)
