Thrivent Charitable welcomes Dr. Kirk Farney to its Board of Directors
Thrivent Charitable Impact & Investing® (Thrivent Charitable) is pleased to announce Dr. Kirk Farney has joined its Board of Directors.
“We are grateful to have Kirk join the Thrivent Charitable Board of Directors,” said Jim Odland, chair of Thrivent Charitable’s board. “His experience and expertise will continue to support the growth and transformation of our organization.”
Dr. Kirk Farney currently serves as Vice President for Advancement, Vocation, and Alumni Engagement at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. Additionally, Kirk holds faculty status within the College’s Department of History. Prior to coming to Wheaton, Kirk worked in international banking for 26 years, with roles at J. P. Morgan Securities, Inc., and its merged firms—First Chicago, First Chicago NBD, and Bank One. He most recently served as Managing Director and Global Head of Asset-Backed Finance. Kirk also served on Thrivent’s Board of Directors from 2011 – 2024.
Dr. Farney holds a B. S. in Finance and Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an M.B.A. in Marketing from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, and an M.A. in Theological Studies from Wheaton College. He also holds an M.A. in History and Ph.D. in American Religious History from the University of Notre Dame.
