Richard Moen had a heart for giving back. Growing up with great poverty he looked up to his mother and her ingenuity. His father died at a young age, leaving his mother to her resilience and industrious nature to raise him. He was incredibly frugal as a result of how he grew up and loved the underdog. His passion was around helping people with hardship and distress, which he lived out daily during his life, and translated into a legacy of giving through The Rich Moen Northwood Iowa Community Fund directly benefitting the community of Northwood, Iowa.
Northwood Volunteer Fire Company (NVFC) responds to over 400 calls each year related to medical, fire and technical rescues. Time and appropriate tools are critical in a traumatic event. Grant dollars from this fund are benefiting NVFC in the purchase of life saving rescue/extrication tools to increase the success rate of their rescues. As a 501(c)(3) strictly run off donations and grants, Rich Moen’s legacy is helping them better serve their community, and literally saving lives.
Worth County Community of Promise's mission is to enrich the quality of life in Worth County and is dedicated to serving families and seniors who are faced with everyday challenges, including food insecurity.
