Minnesota Interfaith Power and Light
Minnesota Interfaith Power and Light follows three core strategies, called their “three-legged stool” approach:
- Empower and facilitate individuals and groups to take practical actions for decarbonization and climate justice.
- Organize and advocate for necessary systemic changes.
- Foster relationships enabling greater impact through coordinated actions.
Building on their 20 years of work to advance climate justice solutions, MNIPL is establishing community-based resilience hubs to train and support communities around Minnesota. These hubs are community spaces equipped with backup power, supplies, and services to support community members in the event of extreme weather. There is an increasingly critical need for resilience hubs, particularly in disadvantaged communities where residents are disproportionately vulnerable to such events. A model like the community-based resilience hub — where citizens manage visioning, planning, and implementation—leads to a more impactful and valuable model for communities and delivers powerful benefits, including community leadership, local wealth-building, resident support, and more.
Support from the Thrivent Charitable Disaster Response and Resiliency Fund and generous gifts from our donors help make this possible. For collaborative funds, Thrivent Charitable conducts an invitation-based grantmaking process. For more information review our
