New offerings provide options
to match your time horizon

One of the exciting things about our new investment options is you now have more choices when factoring your time horizon in giving and granting decisions.

Simply put, your time horizon is the period of time during which you plan to make grants from your donor-advised fund. It varies from donor to donor.

Consider several hypothetical examples of how the new offerings may support a variety of time horizons.

  • A family inherits a windfall and decides to donate the money to local organizations in the next five years. In conversation with their financial advisor and Thrivent Charitable, they agree their time horizon limits their desire for risk, and they choose a moderate allocation fund.
  • A donor with highly appreciated securities intends to donate several shares every few years when the market is performing well to grant from his donor-advised fund. With that frequency of giving, an income fund with its minimal risk may be most appropriate.
  • A couple wants to instill a habit of generosity in their children and grandchildren and sets up a donor-advised fund to grow over their lifetime and beyond. They will grant smaller gifts during their lifetime to ensure the fund has potential to grow for decades. In this scenario, the growth options, which are allocated to about 80% stocks, would be appropriate.
  • A donor who is seeking positive market returns while also driving positive social and environmental impact may select the Thrivent Charitable Impact Fund. The fund is committed to offering donors the opportunity to make an impact on climate solutions and gender/racial equity while providing sustainable economic growth.

While diversification can help reduce market risk, it does not eliminate it. Diversification does not ensure a profit or protect against loss in a declining market. Investing involves risks, including the possible loss of principal.
