Emma Litwin’s eyes were opened to the needs of local families when she volunteered to make beds with a nonprofit organization called Sleep in Heavenly Peace. “It’s a simple project focused on giving growing children the good sleep they should be getting,” she says. “It made me realize how privileged I am to have my bed, a roof over my head, and everything in between.”
Emma, from Franksville, Wis., will attend the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee this fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in medical sonography.
“I genuinely love helping those in my community,” she says. “No matter how big or small the deed, everything counts. I want to reach out more and help those who need it. I’m ready to step in with an open mind and an open heart.”
Emma says, “To the donors who made this scholarship possible, I cannot give you a big enough thank you. Receiving this scholarship has made me want to continue to push to be a great student, work hard, and accomplish my goals. Knowing I have this support makes me feel more confident about what the future holds for me.”
The Thrivent Charitable Community Scholarship is made possible through our Field of Interest Fund and was established to benefit students who are members of congregations that hold active organizational endowment funds at Thrivent.
