Thrivent Charitable Impact & Investing welcomes three new members to its Board of Directors

Thrivent Charitable Impact & Investing® (Thrivent Charitable) is pleased to announce Carolyn Sakstrup, Abe Sheikh, and Kimberly Spears have joined its Board of Directors.

“We are honored to have Carolyn, Abe, and Kimberly join the Thrivent Charitable Board of Directors,” said Kurt Senske, chair of Thrivent Charitable’s board. “Their experience and expertise will continue to support the growth and evolution of our organization.”

Carolyn Sakstrup
Carolyn Sakstrup is the chief growth and generosity officer at Thrivent and brings a depth of marketing and strategy experience. Prior to joining Thrivent, she served in several senior roles Target including senior vice president of Insights, Strategy and Innovation and senior vice president of Marketing.

Prior to her 12 years at Target, Sakstrup spent seven years at McKinsey & Company as a strategy consultant focused on marketing and organizational strategy for clients. Sakstrup has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota and earned a master’s of business administration from Harvard Business School.

Abe Sheikh
Abe Sheikh brings over 20 years of investment and portfolio management expertise to Thrivent Charitable’s board. He currently serves as the chief investment officer at Cordoba Advisory Partners. Prior to his current position, he was co-chief investment officer at Meeder Investment Management where he was responsible for overseeing and managing $35 billion+ of equity and fixed income assets across a range of strategic and tactical strategies for institutional and retail clients, including financial advisors.

Sheikh has a bachelor’s in actuarial science from London School of Economics and Political Science, a master’s in computational finance from Carnegie Mellon University and is a fully qualified actuary. He is also a member of the Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Kimberly Spears
Kimberly Spears is a senior manager at Deloitte Services LP* where she designs experiences for senior executives on relevant c-suite business topics, leadership, and community building. During her nearly 17-year tenure at Deloitte, Spears has led strategic programs in leadership development and diversity and inclusion and led implementations of new business and talent strategies.

Spears has a bachelor of science from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, a German minor from Florida State University, a master’s of business administration from Harvard Business School, and a Global TESOL Certificate from the University of Georgia’s Center for Continuing Education.
