Thrivent Charitable welcomes two new members to its Board of Directors

Thrivent Charitable Impact & Investing® (Thrivent Charitable) is pleased to announce Kyle Carpenter and Alex Vinh have joined its Board of Directors.

“Kyle and Alex bring a wealth of invaluable experience to our board,” said Mandy Tuong, president and CEO of Thrivent Charitable. “Their knowledge and unique backgrounds will be instrumental as we help our current and future donors make their generosity goals a reality. I am thrilled to work with them and excited for the future of Thrivent Charitable.”

Kyle Carpenter
Kyle Carpenter’s leadership roles span decades in for profit and nonprofit organizations, as well as serving as a director on various boards. He recently retired from the role of CEO at MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis, where he helped it become the largest community music school in the U.S. serving 16,000 students annually. Prior to joining MacPhail, he served as President and CEO of Electrosonic Group, in several senior leadership positions with Honeywell, and as a vice president for strategy and business development for Capella Education Company.

Kyle currently serves on the Board of Governors for St. Thomas University’s School of Engineering. He has also served on the boards of Twin Cities Public Television, the Greater Twin Cities United Way, and the Harlem Globetrotters. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management science from Duke University and attended the Aspen Institute (Switzerland) for International Management Development.
Alex B. Vinh, CFA
Alex Vinh spent his career helping institutions achieve their investment goals by delivering innovative strategic and tactical portfolios all while meeting company and regulatory guidelines. Recently retired from the finance industry, his most recent role was co-head of research for Wellington Management’s Investment Strategy Team where he was responsible for asset allocation decisions decisions, a liquid alternatives fund and the quantitative research team. Prior to joining Wellington, he served in a senior leadership role for State Street’s Global Advisors Investment Solutions Group, managed a hedge fund for 2100 Capital Group, and worked as a research analyst for two other firms earlier in his career.

Alex has a bachelor’s in economics and political science from Carleton College, and he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the Boston Security Analysts Society, and he is involved in the community coaching high school volleyball and tennis.

“We are thankful to have Kyle and Alex join the Thrivent Charitable Board of Directors,” said Jim Odland, chair of Thrivent Charitable’s board. “Their experience and expertise will continue to support the advancement of our organization.”
